New River Gorge, West Virginia 

Anywhere in the Appalachian Mountains is beautiful to visit, so let's talk about New River Gorge National Park and surrounding towns. The National Park can be enjoyed by all. From gentle hiking trails, to rock climbing, even whitewater rafting! Nearby towns include Fayetteville, known for its small-town charm and being close to the New River Gorge Bridge,  and Berkley, a larger town with more hotel options and a coal mine tour. Hinton and Thurmond are also nearby and each have an Amtrak station, if you're traveling by train.
